The Journey Begins

The Journey Begins – About Me

Welcome to my blog. I grew up writing everything down so it only makes sense that I continue on with that tradition, but in a more public place: the inter webs in this case.

It’s been a few years now, but in 2015 I was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, a disorder that affects the muscles. At the time, I felt lost and so unsure of where to go from there. It wasn’t long after my diagnosis that I decided to get back into writing, something I had stopped doing after high school. Sure, I wrote in college, but nothing more than my assignments. I had stopped doing what I had done when I was younger: write just to write and be creative. I started writing a novel; something that I’m still working on today. I’m in one of the very many editing phases right now, but I hope to publish it someday and help show that anyone who feels different because of something they can’t change is not alone.

Writing is how I make sense of it all and it gives me some time to relax. It’s become therapeutic and a chance for me to explore and be creative. This blog is a combination of the everyday happenings in my life as well as some of my travels, book reviews, with a dash of pop culture and anything I find interesting on social media. Let’s face it, we’re all still trying to unpack the meaning behind social media and for some reason that really fascinates me.

Come along with me as I navigate through life with muscular dystrophy. I’ll be sure to bring you updates and my comments on accessible places and activities wherever I travel.

Again, welcome to my blog. I look forward to seeing you around!
